Getting started
BookMark Pro needs no installation or account. Open the app in your browser and you’re ready to go. Here’s a good first five minutes.
1. Bring in your existing bookmarks (optional)
Section titled “1. Bring in your existing bookmarks (optional)”If you already have bookmarks in Firefox, Chrome, or Safari, import them so you don’t start from an empty grid:
- Export your bookmarks from your browser (see Importing bookmarks for browser-specific steps).
- In BookMark Pro’s left sidebar, click the Import button.
- Pick the exported file —
.jsonfrom Firefox or.htmlfrom Chrome/Safari. The format is detected automatically. - Choose how many columns to arrange the imported bookmarks into, and confirm.
Your full bookmark tree, folders included, appears in the grid.
2. Add your first bookmark
Section titled “2. Add your first bookmark”- Click the New bookmark button in the sidebar.
- Enter a name and the URL. Optionally add keywords (to help search find it), pick an icon, and if you wish set a background color.
- Save. The bookmark appears in the folder you currently have open.
To group things, click New folder, give it a name — and, if you like, its own colors or icon — then drag bookmarks onto it. More in Folders.
3. Arrange your grid
Section titled “3. Arrange your grid”Drag any bookmark or folder to reorder it. Your layout is saved automatically and stays exactly where you put it. Press and hold briefly before moving the mouse to start the drag — a quick click just opens the item instead. See Drag and drop.
4. Make it comfortable
Section titled “4. Make it comfortable”- Toggle light/dark theme with the sun/moon button in Settings.
- Adjust the number of grid columns and whether links open in a new tab in Settings.
- Collapse the sidebar when you want a cleaner view.
5. Back up your data
Section titled “5. Back up your data”Because everything is stored locally in your browser, an occasional export is your safety net — one file, re-importable anytime.
