Searching

The search bar finds bookmarks and folders anywhere in your hierarchy — you don’t need to remember which folder something is in.

How matching works

As you type, BookMark Pro matches your query (case-insensitively) against:

• the name of every bookmark and folder,
• the URL of every bookmark,
• the keywords you’ve added to bookmarks.

The best matches appear in a results list, up to 20 at a time. Selecting a bookmark opens it, respecting your link-opening preference (new tab by default); selecting a folder takes you into it. Folder results are marked with a folder icon so you can tell them apart.

Jump to a result’s folder

Every result row also has a Show in folder button (the outlined folder icon on the right). Instead of opening the result, it navigates the grid to the folder that contains it — useful when you’ve found a bookmark and want to see what else lives alongside it, or when you want to edit or move it rather than open it.

Keywords: search on your own terms

Names and URLs don’t always contain the words you’d naturally search for. That’s what keywords are for — free-form terms you attach to a bookmark when adding or editing it.

For example, a bookmark named “Jitsi” pointing at meet.jit.si could carry the keywords video, call, and standup — then typing any of those finds it immediately.

Tip

If you ever search for something and don’t find it, that’s the moment to add the term you just typed as a keyword on the right bookmark. Search gets better the more you use it.
